Better than most albums | Posted July-21-2013
This album was just a bunch of songs relient k had made in the past of songs that didn't make the album, and maybe a couple of new tracks. Although some of the tracks didn't make previous albums, i like them a lot. There are a lot of songs, and not really a bad one.

The standout tracks to me are "The scene and Herd", "The Lining is Silver", and "Nothing Without You". These are all vintage Relient K. Theres no doubt about that. There are also funny moments like the two "Five Iron Frenzy is Either Dead or Dying" tracks, which it wouldn't be relient K without that.

Overall, i loved it. There wasn't one track that i didn't like. This is why they are still one of my favorite bands, and a lot of christian music fan's favorite bands.

Trip lee's sophmore try was an astounding win. This is way better all around than his first cd. The production, the raps, and everyting was just better. It starts off with an epic intro which he has a nice little rap to. It goes into arguably the best track "Superstar (eyes off me". he goes hard in this one. He's talking about how he wants this song to let you worship God. He doesn't want the recognition, and he says, "Hey, if you looking for a superstar don't look at me, you got me wrong, I been a sinner all along, Let's look at him and not the songs".

Next comes "Real Vision", another outstanding track which features labelmate Tedashii. This song talks about not listening to what other people say, but take the Bible's word for it. And if you're looking into something make sure it matches with the word. "Inexhaustible is a cathy track, but its not a standout song.

"Who is like him?" is also really good. He repeats on the chorus, "Who is like him? Nobody!" Thats how great God is, nobody compares. "We told em" starts off with a cool guitar, but he goes into a soft but fast rap. "Cling to you" is one of the downfalls of this album. The whole feel of it didn't excite me. Im also not a big fan of Shai linne. He's a great lyrycist and storyteller, but i just don't particularly like his music and style.

The whole second half of the cd is not as good, but don't get wrong it's still really good. It just doesn't quite live up to the first half. The highllights of the second half are: "Who he is (Ft. Lecrae, Cam)" and "True Security". The others are good, but just not as good as those.

I love what Reach Records is doing. Whether its trip, Lecrae, Tedashii or whoever, They've done a fantastic job. I tip my hat to them.

This isn't disciple at their best. This is a totally different style of rock. It's metal from the nineties. Needless to say, its not my favorite. The two best songs are "Pharisee" and "Fall on Me". Pharisee is a heavier song. My favorite part is the guitar solo on the bride. It was pretty good. Fall on me starts off slower, and then picks up with banging drums and a slightly irritating scream from kevin young. There is not much else to say about this ep. They have improved greatly since then.

Daylight | Posted July-24-2011
Needtobreathe's first try is not a failure. it is indeed a success. The first time I heard them was on Gospel music channel, where I saw the music video for "You are here". I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't interest me too much until i got their full album.

It starts off with "Don't wait for Daylight". Its not that great of a song, but it got stuck in my head for a long time. It was a pretty good start, and it set the theme for the album. Next comes "Quit". This is one of my favorites. It's one of the more upbeat songs on the album. "Shine on" is probably my favorite. It's a really uplifting song, which also has good music to it.

The next two songs, "Don't Leave Just yet" and "Haley" are low points. They kind of bore me, especially Haley. "Knew it all" is another upbeat rock song which has another catchy chorus to it. This song brings the album back to life a little bit.

The next few are just mediocre songs. Finally, "I wont look back ends Daylight on a good note. All in all I thought they gave it their best, and they did a great job while doing it. I knew these guys had a ton of potential when I heard this, and they have showcased their talents, in their latest releases.

Turn my life up | Posted June-17-2011
This is one of the few reach records projects that i don't care for. I just found this kind of annoying. It starts off with "Turn My Life Up". I actually thought this was an ok track,  which was followed by an interlude, which is then followed by "Music of Life". I did not care for this one at all. The little voice saying "This is the music of life" got very irritating. Up next is "Overrated", which wasn't too bad of a song. It was kind of catchy, but im still looking for a standout track. "Rebuild the city" was not that track. It features Cam, which, I usually enjoy the songs that feature him, this one did not bode well with me. His vocals just didn't flow well with the rest of the song.

"Maranatha" is another ok song. It features fellow lablemate Tedashii, and also Json. This is actually the first time I had heard Json. It wasn't a good first impression. "Saint" and "Great Day 2 Die" are the next two in line. Here comes Cam again. His feature was good this time, and Dillon Chase also rapped a verse, and it was a tolerable song. The next song, "Great Day 2 Die" is by far the most irritating song on the album. Dillavou's whining high pitched shrieks are the most unenjoyable part of the cd. It just wasn''t my cup of tea. Finally! "Catch Me at the Brook" is a fantastic song, which features none other than Lecrae. It's talking about how we need more of God, and they share about their past lives. Higher Love is another good song. It gets kind of repetitve, but its tolerable.

"Slow it Down" is a mediocre track. Nothing too special emerges at this point. "Oh My Lord" has a couple of guest vocalist. I don't think it's supposed to be taken this way or not, but the beggining is laughable. Whoever sings that part, just.... shouldn't have. "Love of my Life" and "100" are next. 100 is another just ok song. "God is like/Who is Like God". At first I didn't like it all, but it shockingly grew on me. I think it is now my favorite track. It has various features, and I like the mixture of raps. To end the album, there is "Rescue me/You are my everything" and "Be scientifc". Neither are impressive or worthy of praise.

Although it was his freshman release, i was expecting much more. Especially on Reach Records. He has matured so much, and he has gotten so much better. He is a very witty lyricist and has a good sense of humor. I will give him that. It wasn't too impressive, but don't judge him by this album alone.

Philmont! | Posted June-17-2011
Philmont is my favorite punk rock band. This is a great ep, and its even more amazing because they were so young when they released this! Photosynthetic is an amazing song, so is Hello, Jack.

Now these guys are making it big on forefront records, with a full length album, and a newer ep that was released recently. Whether you want to believe it or not, this ep is the reason they are so popular today.

I was really surprised when I first heard of this group. I saw it was coming out on December, 28 which is the same day as Flame's newest record "Captured". I thought i would check it out. Then one day, Rapzilla.com had a free listening session of their self-titled debut. I really liked it.

The highlights of the album are "Crazy", "See it how I See it",  "Tell Em (Internal Conflict)", and I also really liked "Most High". My favorte is probably tell em. It's talking about telling people about how awesome God is.

I also like how there are so many of them. And there is a nice mixture of guys rapping and the girls singing. It makes the album flow really well. They are new, and i'm pumped to hear more from these guys. They are by far my favorte artist of Cross Movement Records.

Flame | Posted June-17-2011
This is Flame's very first release, so i'll give him a break. Needless to say it's not my favortie album of his. I wasn't a big fan of  his next release "Rewind" either. They are both have great messages, and this is a ok of a self-titled cd. The main reason i like it is because, it was really good for the genre of christian music. This came out when christian rap wasn't necessarily that popular.

It's just that a couple of the songs are just kind of annoying to me. "Like Christ" happens to be one of those. I just don't like how the children's voices are used in this particular song. "Truth Travels" is a pretty good song, but "Give us the truth" is probably the best song on Flames self-tiltled debut album in my opinion.

All in all it's not that great of an album, but there are some bright spots. Plus you always have to be thankful for men like these, who love God and pursue him. The lyrics alone just make his music enjoyable.

The blackout | Posted June-15-2011
This album is heavily criticized for his pride and arrogance throughout. You cannot take away his talent though. Birth of a king is an upbeat track, and its very catchy. It starts off strong. Another one of the highllights is where you at, which features brothatone. My other favorite is what I'm Working With.  Those are the highlights in my opinion.

The rest of the album is ok. Redemption and PSA Vol.2 are my two favorites by PRo. Also he has a new record droppin' on August 23, 2011 called "Dying to Live". He recently released a new music video for it. Im Psyched. So if you want to take anything away from this review, it would be to invest in his new style of music. It is much better and more geared towards God.

A Great Debut for a Legendary Christian Rock band | Posted August-19-2010
Oh, the ninety's. That's where a lot of Our primary christian artist started out. I was born in the ninety's. So im about the same age as skillet, switchfoot, relient k, and many other christian artists. Although i think Switchfoot started off the best of any of the a fore mentioned bands. With their 1997 release, "The Legend of chin", they didn't start out like they are now, but they definitely got off of the right foot.

The album opens up with "Bomb", A typical rock anthem for the decade. Next we have the first radio single, and arguably the best song on the album, "Chem 6A. It starts off with a catchy guitar riff. its a rock song for the generation if you will.

Next we have "underwater" and "Edge of my seat". You will have the chorus of underwater stuck in your head all day long. It is a mainly slower paced pop/rock song, but at the end for the last part of the chorus it starts to pick up. Edge of my seat Also stars off pretty slow, but as a nifty guitar rift kicks in, so do Jon's vocals and it will have your head bobbin' back in forth in the car. It has a quite repetitive chorus, but it is almost as catchy as underwater.

"Home" really slows the album down with an acoustic guitar, a slow drum beat, and soft vocals. The chorus has some violins in the background, but to be honest the song can be boring to the listener. "Might have ben Hur" is a kind of mediocre song, although it has catchy vocals. I really like "Concrete Girl". It's the best slower song on the album.

The next two songs kind of bore me, I guess because most of the album is more upbeat and catchy. I just don't think they should have put "life, and love, and why" and "You" right next to each other. Although they are both good songs lyric wise, they musically bore me. "Ode to chin" saves the album by picking back up the rock pace. As Jon sings: "All that you've been Makes who you are now" it sets the tone for the chorus. "Don't be there is the best acoustic song on the album in my opinion. Jon really shows his true vocals in this song, and I Really enjoy his voice.

All in all, i would name "The Legend of Chin" a top ten album of the ninety's decade. Along with greats from: Audio adrenaline, dc talk, and newsboys. It is definitely a debut to remember.
