Teenage Fantasy About Whale Bones... | Posted April-03-2010
Ah, my second most anticipated album this year is by one of my favorite rock/alt acts Secret And Whisper.
What a great group of guys, even when you get them 4 times in a row on modern warfare 2 they still have a laugh about it, they love music so much it's evident just by talking to them.
Now onto the actual album, it starts off with Youth Cats, from the beginning you get a taste of the unique style you should expect for the rest of the album.
The highlights of this album are definitely: Whale Bones(fantastic track), Blush, Warrior (Southern Arrowwood) and Bedroom Galaxy.
They have an incredibly solid sound and the production is top notch, if you are expecting a worship album look elsewhere, these guys are all about their unique lyrics and generally write about things that stick out to them in life/experiences with people and places.
A great Rock/Alt album, fans of Anberlin will love these guys most likely, if you like Saosin you will be very likely to enjoy the style.
Vagabonds... | Posted April-03-2010
Here we are, my most anticipated album since The Silver Cord.
TCC has quickly risen up to be one of my favorite bands I've been following them since pre-Albatross days and I must say Vagabonds is my favorite album so far.
The production style makes it sound so raw and real, it is awesome after listening to some of the over produced "clean" albums that are coming out.
You can expect some solid rock anthems as usual from The Classic Crime, Four Chords, The Count, Cheap Shots are all very solid rock songs.
Where I want to focus is on two very special songs, if you enjoyed the Seattle Sessions EP then you are gonna love them.
Broken Mess is just a ridiculously good song, I can't get enough of it, it's just so brutally honest and you can see that the writer really poured his soul into it.
My Name is the other song I want to bring to the forefront, lyrically it is so impressive, I just can't say enough about the honesty and quality of the lyrics on this album, My Name is such a reflective song about how you can see everything and be through so much, people will throw you around and treat you like garbage but keep pushing forward because they will never take who you are or change your heart.
If you love The Classic Crime or Rock music in general then this is the album for you.
As Good As Mmmhmm In A Different Way... | Posted October-06-2009
Mhmmm is what got me into Relient K as a teenager, this release is so deep as far as lyrics but not as poppy as Mhmmm or even Five Score.
His fiancee called off the marriage while he was writing for this disc and you can see he used a lot of the songs to express this, it's true of songwriters myself especially that when your going through the hardest times in life that's when you write the best music you've ever written, and I feel this holds true for Matty T as well.
Very good disc from top to bottom, Sahara is the most catchy one, but the last three songs have tons of feeling.
Needtobreathe Got Me Again.... | Posted August-24-2009
The first time I listened to The Heat I was caught off guard because I began liking this band when I first bought Daylight, I can say The Heat was a perfect bridge to this album.
The Heat seemed to really bridge the style gap and prepare you for the southern offering that The Outsiders provides.
From 1-14 this is a great CD to listen too, it has grown on me big time after two full playthroughs just like The Heat did, musically and lyrically this is the band at their best and you can really tell they poured their hearts and souls into this disc even more so then The Heat which I felt was an extremely emotional CD.
Highlights: Something Beautiful, Garden, The Outsiders, Let Us Love, Lay Em Down, Stones Under Rushing Water
There wasnt a song on this CD I skipped over, big thumbs up.
Skillet Does It Again... | Posted August-19-2009
They put out another stunning album and showed why they continue to be one of the best out there, combining ballads and solid heavier songs into another amazing record.
I've been following Skillet since Invincible and the evolution of this band is evident!
Another Solid Release... | Posted June-18-2009
Following up Wake Up! Wake Up! is no easy task, I gave this CD a full listen through today and the song Where I Ended has been stuck in my head for hours.
There are multiple solid songs on here but also a couple forgettable ones.
Solid release by one of the better acts out there.
Memories... | Posted March-13-2009
This is one of my favorite books as a child and still today, I have a copy of all of his books which revolve around the LOTR/Hobbit universe.
Timeless classic, I don't have much time to read books these days but noticing this review makes me want to read this book again.
The hobbit was a book that I spent hours reading one of the memories of my childhood was reading these books.
I would recommend this classic because it can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
A Very, Very, Very Good Album... | Posted March-07-2009
I'll start off mentioning that if you didn't pick up the deluxe your missing out on a couple high quality songs.
I will say that this album gets a perfect rating from me, I just love the mixture and how they have perfected the style.
The arrangement and the music are impeccable almost untouchable by most bands, the production values are just amazing, even live they are nearly flawless.
Rating Says It All... | Posted March-07-2009
Got this CD when it first came out and it kind of got lost in the shuffle, pulled it out and popped it in the disc player the other day and realized why I love this band so much.
They ooze talent and they are some of the realest people you will ever meet.
Give, Deathbed, Taking You With me are three of my favorite.
