Just as wonderful as the original demo, only the production is definitely more professional and smooth sounding.  Hoping to track this down on vinyl record sometime.   It's hard rock/metal with raspy vocals and speedy guitars.

Classic metal greatness! | Posted June-18-2013
I found this on cassette inside a little record store in Buffalo.  It was still sealed!  It has a great classic sound and gospel lyrics.  This is Barren Cross's first real album.  I encourage everyone to track it down!

More Power to Ya | Posted November-15-2012

"More Power to Ya" is probably Petra's all time best.  It is extraordinarely similar to their previous album, "Never Say Die".  Their system is a couple rockers, a couple more praise oriented rockers, and a couple soft tunes.

Never Say Die | Posted November-15-2012
"Never Say Die" was Petra's breakthrough album.  They realized that they were meant to ROCK.  Greg X. Volz is on full lead here.  The album opens on "The Coloring Song", which became a major hit.  Then comes in "Chameleon", which is a blatant, in your face rocker that will knock the socks off of whoever thought this album would clone the previous releases.  This album defines Petra.

Mellow Side of Early Petra | Posted November-15-2012
"Washes Whiter Than" came at a time when Petra didn't think the hard rock was gonna be successful in the Christian market.  They wanted to experiment with a more radio friendly sound.  And it worked.  Here, Greg X. Volz and Rob Frazier share lead vocals.(This is Rob Frazier's only album with Petra).  There are some good pop moments on this one.  "Magic Mirror" is my favorite.  However, overall, the album is too mellow for Petra.  Great lyrics and vocals, though!

Very 70's | Posted November-15-2012
Petra's 2nd release, Come and Join Us is a bit more contemporary than their first.  This one has more of a contemporary, 70's pop sound to it.  Greg X. Volz, who wasn't yet a full time member, leads vocals for a few songs, including "God Gave Rock and Roll to You", which would be later recorded on their 1984 album "Beat the System".  This album was originally gonna be titled "God Gave Rock and Roll to You", but there was too much controversy at the time.

Overall, this is a good album if you like the 70's sound.  The Best Tracks are "Come and Join Us", and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You".

Super Encouraging! | Posted November-15-2012
This album means so much to me at this point of my life.  I had been feeling very down about myself, but after hearing "Gold", it totally lifted me up and gave me a new perspective on who God created me to be.  I listen to that song every day now.  I recommend it for anyone, especially young people!

Quirky Yet Awesome! | Posted October-09-2012

Yes, The Omega Band's release of "Outsiders" is quite quirky, yet awesome.  Very muffled, dated sound.  If you like the dated sound, this is totally for you!  It sounds too dated to be 1984, but this is a gem you will not want to miss out on if you are an 80's geek :)

Awesome Demo! | Posted September-15-2012
Bloodgood's  "Metal Missionaries"  demo is the first of the band's rockin', harmonious genius.  Only 4 songs, but they really rock!  I love Bloodgood because of their heavy rock and great harmonies, which become more skilled in future albums.  This was just the beginning!  Love it!

Top notch metal | Posted September-14-2012
Stryper's EP "The Yellow and Black Attack"  is an early metal album full of energy that sounds like it had been building up for centuries (which it had!)  The original album cover has yellow and black missiles shooting toward the earth, which I feel especially sets the mood for the album.  This is an awesome album for any fan of metal!
