What I like most about this album is that doctrine is evident in the songs. In "My Only Hope" I like how they show that before Christ we were enemies of God, and even so God still gave us His Son. I absolutely love the beginning of "You Created" There is no one like our God. Not even the angels are like our God. This song reminds me of a question Paul Washer asked during one of his sermons; asking who is more like God, an angel or the bacteria in your toilet? The answer is neither. This song reminds us that our greatest pleasure is in God Himself. The greatest gift He can give us, is Himself.
What I love most about the song "Mystery of Mercy" is the lyrics "My God, my God, why has thou accepted me?" which reminds me immediately of Christ calling out to His Father "My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?" This song shows the great unconditional love of our Father

Shawn McDonald is by far my favorite artist. Clarity, Captivated, and Greed are probably the most popular songs on this album. Overall I was pleased with this album. He has a good blend of upbeat and calm songs. I am split on which version of "Shadowlands" I like better. The only song I was really disappointed with on this album was "Slow Down" because of the dry music and lyrics. I have struggled with the meaning of this song, but aside from that I would recommend buying this album.

I've read many reviews on other sites about this album not being that great. I would agree that the music itself wasn't anything spectacular, but its the lyrics of his songs that catch my attention. Though I greatly enjoy the beat of Take my Hand and Gravity, and the lyrics, in other songs I found myself not paying much attention to the music, but almost completely on the lyrics. The lyrics of these songs definitely show the ripening in Shawn McDonald's life.

I don't see why he calls himself a Christian. He's all about being healthy wealthy and prosperous, and if you're not you just don't have enough faith. Go tell the faithful being persecuted in other countries that they're not healthy wealthy and prosperous because they don't have enough faith. And those people starving and being persecuted for Christ are richer than Osteen will ever be. If you own this book I reccomend you burn it (along with any other of Joel Osteen's books). The title of the book is right, if you follow the health wealth and prosperity "gospel" this will be your best life now, because when you die, it sure won't be your best life. It is obvious Joel Osteen doesn't even care about people's souls he just cares that they're happy. I think Todd Agnew's song "My Jesus" put it very well when he said "my Jesus would never be accepted at my church The blood and dirt on His feet might stain the carpet" Jesus would never be accepted at Osteen's church

King of the Hill | Posted February-06-2008
The only song I've actually ever heard was King of the Hill, but after listening to King of the Hill I would like to buy this cd. King of the Hill is a captivating song. I wouldn't have heard of eLi if it weren't for receiving a mix cd from a friend with King of the Hill on it.

Definitely didn't like the album. I don't listen to Relient K because I don't believe they are serious about their songs. I don't think they should be labeled as a Christian band. Most people I know that do listen to Relient K don't even know they're a "Christian" band. And when non-Christians don't know that, then you know there's a problem with the music.

After listening to the cd, I thought it was a waste of my money. There were only one or two songs that I liked. Didn't seem like their focus was really on God with most of the songs.

I do believe that this album shows how much his music is growing in both style and meaning.

When I first heard Phil Wickham's music he became one of my absolute favorites because of his ministry through music. He has remained true to the gospel in his music. I like that the lyrics of his music challenges the listener in their own walk with Christ.
