Kirk Franklin is the top selling urban Gospel act of all time, and for good reason! He continually reinvents himself and has an uncanny ability to speak directly to the hearts of his listeners, who are as diverse as the musical genres that he seamlessly incorporates into his music ministry. His forthcoming release, The Fight of My Life, is possibly the most compelling body of work to date. It examines the most difficult battle that anyone can face: the battle with one's self. Song by song, Kirk delves into the internal struggles that we face as believers, and more universally, as people. The Fight of My Life is a clarion call for all those who are disturbed about the social ills that plague our planet, and a beacon of light for those who earnestly yearn for another way. Franklin has done it again!

NOT THE FINAL ROUND| Posted September 29, 2008
One of the biggest-selling artists in the faith community, Kirk Franklin is a veritable ringmaster who continually surrounds himself with the best and the brightest of all genres. As such, he easily crosses boundaries of style and classification—his latest opus, The Fight of My Life, is no exception.
The album is chock-full of great songs, and great performances. The anthem “Declaration (This Is It!),” built around the original Kenny Loggins classic “This Is It,” is a fighter’s proclamation that he will survive anything the world throws at him. The beat-driven romp “I Like Me,” with guest rapper Da’ T.R.U.T.H., is a godly celebration of self, despite all of our flaws—because God loves us best. The smooth R&B track “Chains,” showcasing the dynamic vocals of Melonie Daniels, Nikki Ross, and Sheri Jones-Moffett, cries out to Jesus for rescue from the things that would steal our joy.
Song by song, Franklin peels away the hurts of life in a fallen world. All along the way, he calls on the Lord for love and for strength, and celebrates the hope available in Christ. The Fight of My Life is about the fights we all face—and a compelling reminder that God is always in our corner. - Chris Well

So when I bought this CD I was like what is this fight all about. It was when I then listened to it that I discovered it was about the things that we go through as humans here on earth even as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, we also face issues and challenges that need us to fight for our eternal life. Love the whole album. When we did a talent show with our Sunday School I remember listening to my sister-in-law rapping the part done by Kirk it was like wow. And when D.A.T.R.U.T.H cam here in 2013 for a concert a child danced like I don't know to this song. Yes my brother Kirk your music is really relevant to me because you sing ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a truly diverse and captivating album that explores many of the realities of the Christian faith and it's often struggles and pitfalls. Many musical styles are explored throughout and like most of Kirk's releases are done with very high quality and Christ focused. My favorite track was "Still in Love".
Powerful Gospel CD| Posted September 22, 2009
When I first saw this album, I was immediately drawn to it just by the cover art and title. It looked like a rock or rap cd with strong Christian lyrics. And when I saw that somebody had put it in the Alternative Rock genre, I thought maybe I'd stumbled onto my next favorite artist! I read through the lyrics before listening to it and was hooked by the messages and creativity. Then I put the CD in and my vision was shattered.
Now before you start thinking I hate the album, let me tell you up front: this is a great Gospel cd! Amazing, powerful lyrics, great sound, and a talented group of musicians make this near perfect! This thing even has some strong guest artists like Tobymac and Flame! So why is my rating not the highest?
I don't like the Gospel genre. Otherwise, this would be a different story...
But if you like Soul or Gospel, this CD is for you! Don't keep on living without trying it out! If I were more into this style, I'd have already bought the album.
Even with my personal preferences and biases, I still recognize great music in this masterpiece. I ended up buying the rockiest song on it: "I Am God."

What can I say? Kirk Franklin once again squashes all nay-sayers, wannabes, and doubters. The "haters" if you will. Just like "Hero", he gives us personal testamonies and makes us want to have a more personal relationship with God. He uses tight beats and melodies, but it's his words that convey the longing that we all have to be more like Christ. The song that resonates in my spirit the most is "How it used to be". Remember when you first got saved and you were on fire for the Lord?!?! Well as time went on, you let the cares of this world get to you. Now you realize this and you are sorry for not fully believeing that God is who He says He is. But in spite of everything,God welcomes us back into His loving embrace. Hallelujah!
