Not all Dove Award winning artists are too far gone | Posted March-25-2010
Good Monsters had a good number of great songs and the newest release from Jars of Clay follows the same pattern. My personal favorite is Headphones because it speaks to a sin that many of us have yet usually pay no attention to: indifference.
Other great tracks are There Might Be A Light, Closer, Boys(Lesson One) and Heart. Jars of Clay continues to prove that a Dove Award nomination is not a death blow to an artist's creativity. Now, if only other nominees followed JoC's example.

I give this 5 stars because it is just about as good as Tonight The Stars Speak, which is easily my all-time favorite worship album. These guys are just so open, honest, and stripped down in their worship. No need to worry about vocal harmonies or using cliched worship lines, this band is totally heartfelt worship and I love it.

Soon to be a popular ccm name | Posted April-18-2009
Jason Allen Rich's debut album/EP definitely has the sound for a contemporary christian worship artist. On some songs I would compare him a little bit to Jeremy Camp and even somewhat to MercyMe.
Musically the album isn't anything astounding but with "Lamb of Glory" there is a nice piano backing that shows that Jason Allen Rich isn't just a one trick pony. Vocally, he sounds like a cross between Chris Daughtry and Jeremy Camp, which in my opinion is a pretty good thing.
The lyrics will definitely fit in with other ccm artists. With lines like "Oh Lord, come back to us. How long will you delay? Satisfy with love and take us away." (Take Us Away), Jason seems to follow in the typical CCM lyrical format.
My favorites on this album are Take Us Away, Arms Open Wide, and Lamb of Glory. This album isn't groundbreaking or even very original with many of the songs sounding similar to various other CCM artists, but Jason Allen Rich is on his way to making a name for himself in the CCM world.

A few stocking stuffers among a large lump of coal | Posted December-22-2008
I've never really liked the X series because usually it's made up of songs I either already have or don't want and this album is no exception. I already have most of the good songs (P86, Jars of Clay, and ABR) and aside from the not terrible but not good songs by Sanctus Real and Seventh Day Slumber, this album isn't very good at all. Kutless's version of Mary Did You Know is alright but lacks in anything memorable. Anberlins song is good but I've heard it quite a few times before and think I might even own it. Switchfoot's Evergreen has been put on far too many christmas cd's and isn't very good after being so overplayed. The rest of the tracks range from so-so to truly terrible, so-so tracks being the Capital Lights and truly terrible being the FM Static and TFK songs. Not to sound mean but the FM Static is probably the worst song they've ever done and one of the worst christmas songs I've ever heard.

Great | Posted November-06-2008
The more I listen to this album the more I love it. It's no Alchemy Index but it's very close to being just as great. Thrice really changed their sound in this record and it was a change for the better. Best songs: Image of the Invisible, The Earth Will Shake, Music Box, and Red Sky.

Really growing on me | Posted November-06-2008
This album is really growing on me. I've never been a huge Jars of Clay fan but this album is full of beautiful melodies and solid lyrics. Oh My God is amazing and probably my favorite Jars of Clay song ever.

Near perfect album | Posted October-17-2008
This album is phenomenal from beginning to end. It's probably Copeland's best album to date and that's not easy for me to say, but this album is great. My favorites are The Grey Man, The Day I Lost My Voice(The Suitcase Song), and Not Allowed.

Second best cd of the year IMO | Posted October-09-2008
This album is the second best cd of the year second only in my opinion to Thrice's Alchemy Index volumes 3 and 4. House of Heroes have outdone themselves since their debut cd. I love every single track on this album, especially Valley of the Dying Sun, Lose Control, if and By Your Side. This album is phenomenal
