The Christmas Blessing by Donna VanLiere | Posted February-05-2014
Again Donna VanLiere provides another great read. In The Christmas Shoes, young Nathan Andrews was a child who lost his mother to cancer. Now his deepest wish is to become a doctor. When a stranger named Robert gave him the money to buy his mother a pair of shoes for her last Christmas, both Robert and Nathan learned the deepest lessons of love and giving. Now a medical student in his third year, Nathan realizes there are still things to be learned about faith, blessings, and sacrifice. Lessons he will learn from Meghan Sullivan-a young woman born with a hole in her heart that has not kept her from becoming a champion runner. And lessons learned from a young boy named Charlie, who teaches how to live a life of true courage. Together, they will help guide Nathan through the darkest period in his life. The Christmas Blessing is an inspiring about hope existing in the darkest places, and love is always the greatest gift of all.

As always another great read by Ted Dekker. The suspense kept me on my toes. In this book the Bone Man who is a serial killer who abducted six young women in search of the perfect daughter. He tries to make them love him and when they fail he breaks their bones and leaves them to die. Intelligence officer Ryan Evans, on the other hand, has lost all hope of ever being the perfect father. His daughter and wife have written him out of their lives.
Everything changes when BoneMan takes Ryan's estranged daughter, Bethany, as his seventh victim. Ryan goes after BoneMan on his own.
But the FBI sees it differently. New evidence points to the suspicion that Ryan is BoneMan. Now the hunter is the hunted, and in the end, only one father will stand.

My husband and I read this book together as part of our pre-martial counseling. This book talks about how a wife has a driving need to be loved and how a husband has a driving need to be respected. When these needs are not ment then that is when craziness happens.

The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman is a very useful book in understanding your spouse and or significant other and their love language. Gary Chapman's defintion of "love language" is how you can express or experience love with your significant other. The five love languages that is talks about are gifts, quality of time, words of affirmation, acts of service and physical tough. Though he does say the list of the five love languages is exhaustive. This was such a great read and I would recommend it to any couple.

I was excited to read this book because it was based on a true story. Most of the book is not written by the father of a the time 6 year old Alex. Although there are some accounts from Alex's time in heaven it is not the whole book. Most of the story is what this experience had done to Alex's family and their faith.

Toby Mac's first book City On Our Knees is an inspiring book. It has a lot of uplifting and motivational stories and scripture. It teaches readers to step out of their comfort zones and stand up for the faith.

I gave this book 3 stars because I was kind of disappointed because book are supposed to be better than the movie. Obviously the movie was better than the book in this case. The authors got there points across but I think it was poorly written.
