we NEED Sanctus Real.... | Posted February-11-2008
Its always sad to see your favorite bands quit. Audio Adrenaline quitting last year left a huge void in pop/rock bands that are not ashamed to be bold and evangelical while still rocking the masses. We Need Each Other takes Sanctus Real to the next level and is one of the best pop/rock albums to hit the Christian music scene in recent years. The opening track "Turn On The Lights" is an upbeat rocking track that really gets you pumped and begins to fill the huge void left by Audio A..."We're sending out a message to the future that words could not communicate..." reminding us of the importance of Christian music's light to the world. The second song and title track is a radio hit already and serves up a message on how the body of Christ needs each other. We Need Each Other is a very upbeat, catchy, song that gets stuck in your head very quickly. Black Coal is a very unique song about restoration. Whatever You Are Doing is a great song about healing. Sing is an upbeat worship song. Leap of Faith is an awesome song musically catching is powerful lyrics "So what are you waiting for? 'Cause there is a Savior waiting to save you What are you drowning for?" Lay Down My Guns is another powerful song encouraging people to be at peace with themselves and each other and put their trust in God. A great message for these troubling times. Eternal is a great song reflecting on how our true treasure is found in our salvation and relationship with God, a great message for all believers and not harshly spoken to turn away seekers. Half Our Lives reminds us not to waste our life. Legacy is a great song closing out the album about leaving a legacy for Christ for the world to see.
Musically the album is smoothy and catchy, slow in the right places and really rockin' at times. This is a great record for the church. Anyway who loves catchy pop rock (and seriously who doesn't?) should be sure to add this album to their collection you won't be disappointed. This album speaks the name of Jesus loud and clear while being gentle and fun enough that even an unbeliever could enjoy it. Reminding me very strongly of a band Audio Adrenaline...but don't get me wrong Sanctus Real holds their own and this is no copy cat album. Sanctus Real we need you.

The Blood will never lose its power... | Posted January-07-2008
Most of the time when artists put out an album that is meant for another decade it ends up sounding very poorly timed and cheap to say the least especially when the album is almost entirely covers. Kevin Max 1/3 of the world famous trio dc talk's last offering the Blood is by far an exception to that rule. Its feels like a powerful 70's very original Gospel Johnny Cash record with a touch of Bono. First of all, the theme the blood (of Christ) runs very powerfully through every song which hammers home the message and makes you really think about what Christ's blood did for us. Musically, the Blood is a great mix of classic rock and roll and gospel. It makes you really feel that Kevin and Johnny Cash were close friends though the only real Cash touch is vocals from Johnny's sister Joanne on the closing song One Way, One Blood. This album features an all-star line up for guests including the first dc talk reunion song in 10+ years, a cover of Prince's The Cross letting listeners know that a dc talk reunion would definitely be as good or better than we can imagine it would or will be. Other guests including Chris Sligh of American Idol fame, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, Ashley Cleveland, and Erica Campbell of Mary Mary. All that guests fit very well on each of their respective songs making you want more of The Blood. One of my favorite tracks on the album is a cover of Andre Crouch's The Blood Will Never Loose Its Power, its powerful and haunting. This album brings out Kevin Max's beautiful voice to be even more diverse than any of his previous projects all the while making Kevin Max sound very at home in the mix of rock and roll, gospel, southern flavored, featured on the Blood. If you are looking for something original but classic, gospel but rock and roll, dare I say secular but very sacred The Blood is the album for you. To me the album The Blood is a great reminder that "The blood that gives me strength form day to day, it will never lose its power." A message as old as time but still very fresh.

the greatest hits.... | Posted November-24-2007
Many fans dislike greatest hits albums because all they want is to hear a new album by their favorite artists. I really appreciate greatest hits albums if they are well done and including some new or previously unreleased material and if they are released at a time when the band has recently released new material. The Newsboys latest year released a fabulous full lentgh album titled Go and just this past year released the fun quirky Go Remixed, they also are set to release a Go Live album finally capturing on cd their live concert. The Newsboys are my all time favorite band by far. They are known as one of the greatest pop/rock bands in Christian music. Their career spands a vast two decades. Their last greatest hits album was released about seven years ago. Since then the band has released about numerous albums. This is a great collection of songs. Its 18 tracks so its long enough to make it worth your money. There are two awesome brand new tracks. "Stay Strong" which is a beautiful song about being firm in our faith this song begins with a beautiful string arrangements and continues on with some lush aussie vocals. The second brand new song and first track on the album is called "I Fought The La" its already a concert favorite and is upbeat, super catchy, fun sing-along in typical newsboys style but still has an original beat. The greatest hits also includes the Veggie Tales favorite "In the Belly of the Whale" which many adult newsboys fans may not have previously owned on any album since it was only released on some Veggie Tales cds. The 15 previously released songs found on Greatest Hits come from 8 different newsboys albums which shows the great variety found here. My favorite part of greatest hits albums is they make great road trip material when you might be unable to fit a bunch of cds in your suitcase or even all your albums on your ipod. Greatest Hits offers a good taste of newsboys music for old and new fans alike from worship favorites like "It is You" and "He Reigns" to all time concert favorites like "Entertaining Angels" and "Shine" to those quirky fun songs that only the newsboys are known for like "Breakfast" and "Wherever We Go" all around this is a great collection for new and old fans alike that can't be missed by one of Christian music most loved artists.

Daughtry on NRT? | Posted September-08-2007
I'm not sure Daughtry is really considered a Christian artist or an artist of faith. I\'ve never heard him say anything about his faith. His music is pretty good.
