Parody of "Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot
(Matthew 28:16-17, Luke 24:41, John 20:24-31, 1 Corinthians 15:3-7)
I could see that Christ was back after certain death
In a room where a few ones He chose were left
Some doubted that He was there
But He'd find them and teach 'em 'bout comebacks, yeah
Some doubted that He was there
But He'd find them and teach 'em 'bout comebacks, yeah
We could look at Christ and see where the nails had been
Yeah, the Romans were sadists and really mean
Some guys - they think it's a fake
And they guess they know better, but that's still a mistake
Some guys - they think it's a fake
And they guess they know better, but that's still a mistake
MINI-LEAD
I've got scriptures that can prove that the Man was raised
Yet they laugh at the evidence and curse His name
Some doubt He ever was there
If there's 500 people 'round - how's that fair?
Sometimes I make a defense
And I feel like it's wisdom yet I'm losin' my friends
LEAD
I can see the Book of Matthew 28:16
Read the part in verse 17 you'll see what I mean
Some guys - they think it's a fake
And they guess they know better, but that's still a mistake
Some doubted that He was there
But He'd find them and teach 'em 'bout comebacks, yeah
Some doubt He ever was there
If there's 500 people 'round - how's that fair?
Some die - and think it's the end
But I'm still risin' with Him and I'm livin' again
1 Corinthians 15:6
After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters
at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen
asleep.
